    우리나라 글자는 표음문자(表音文字)인 한글과 표의문자(表意文字)인 한자(漢字)가 혼용되어 있다. 그 중 한자는 우리가 사용하는 어휘의 70% 이상을 차지하고 있어 전문학습용어(專門學習用語)뿐 아니라 일상생활용어(日常生活用語)에서도 많이 사용된다.한자 학습의 기본 3요소는 글자모양[자형(字形)], 뜻[자의(字義)], 음[자음(字音)]을 익히는 것이다. 이 기본 3요소는 한자 학습에서 기본으로 익혀야 하고, 이에 앞서 한글의 자음, 모음과 같고 한자 한 글자 한 글자마다 기본재료 역할을 하는 부수(部首) 214 字(대개 부수는 뜻 부분을 나타냄)를 먼저 익혀야 한다.이 기본 3요소 중 한자의 훈(訓)과 음(音)을 쉽게 익히는 방법은 다양하다. 10진법 한자는 이를 형성자 법칙(形聲字法則)으로 묶음을 만들어 익히는 방법이다. 형성자는 한자의 제자원리(製字原理)인 육서〔(六書) 상형(象形), 지사(指事), 회의(會意), 형성(形聲), 전주(轉注), 가차(假借)〕중 가장 많은 숫자(80% 이상)를 차지한다. 형성자는 두 글자를 합하여 글자를 만드는 방법으로 한쪽은 공통된 자형으로 음을 나타내고, 다른 한쪽은 뜻을 나타내기 때문에 형성자 법칙으로 정리해서 공부하면 한자 학습 기본 3요소 중 뜻과 음 부분을 쉽고 재미있게 오래 기억할 수 있다. 이 책은 이러한 바탕 하에 쉽게 익히고 오래 기억하는 규칙을 찾아내 체계적으로 정리한 책이다. 한자 학습을 해본 이라면 누구라도 한 번쯤 좌절을 겪었을 것이다. 이 책이 알려주는 10묶음 정리법은 어려운 한자 학습 앞에 좌절하지 않고 규칙에 따라 공부하며 한자 학습에 흥미를 더할 수 있는 한자 학습법이다. 나아가 어문회 1급 배정한자 3,500자를 쉽게 익혀 계속 기억하게 하는 길잡이 역할로도 충분하다.한학(漢學)에 뜻을 둔 전문적인 한문(漢文)학습은 아니더라도 한자(漢字)를 많이 아는 것은 우리말을 깊이 있게 말하고 쓰는 것은 물론 여러 학문의 지름길이 될 수 있다. 그동안 익힐 게 너무 많고 어려워서 한자 학습을 포기했거나 망설였던 이라면 이 책을 통해 지금이라도 도전하기 바란다.
